Cooking & Wine Classes


La Bottega Nicastro offers dinners, cooking and wine tasting classes with various guest chefs and wine experts throughout the season.  All classes are Italian food and wine focused unless otherwise noted.  We also offer private customized cooking classes and wine tastings for corporate groups and special events, please contact us for further information at

Classes & Dinners are held at our store in the Byward Market - 64 George Street.


Each class is roughly 18 people in size, with 4 seats at the bar and around 14 at a communal table. In the cooking classes there are at least 3 courses demonstrated and eaten - an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert. Two glasses of wine are included unless otherwise noted.  Dinners are communal seating with premium wine pairings.  All classes and dinner are demonstration.  Classes and Dinners begin at 6:00 pm unless otherwise stated.

FRIDAY May 24 - ITALIAN COMFORT FOOD CLASSICS (sold out) - Chicken Parmigiana, Gnocchi, Meatballs, Tiramisu...we love old school Italian classics here. Chef Michael Cummings will be cooking up these classics with a Byward Market twist. $70 per person REGISTER

FRIDAY May 31 - ITALIAN VEGETARIAN 101 (sold out) - The average everyday Italian diet is very vegetarian-friendly, and the reason for this is the country’s cultural heritage. The variety of grains, legumes, olive oil, organic eggs, vegetable sauces, hearty soups, condiments, abundant dairy, and heaps of fresh produce grace Italian tables at every meal. Chef Michael Cummings will prepare some of his top vegetable based spring time dishes. $70 per person REGISTER

FRIDAY June 14 - COOK TUSCANY (sold out) - Famous ​for ​its ​local ​produce ​and ​meat, ​for ​its ​simplicity ​and ​seasonal ​foods ​Chef ​Michael ​Cummings ​will ​share ​some ​recipes ​from ​his ​favourite ​region ​in ​Italy ​- ​Tuscany. $70 per person REGISTER


Wine Classes are led by a La Bottega Wine Expert - includes 6 wines with 6 food pairings.  Each class is roughly 12 people in size unless otherwise indicated. Classes run from 6:00-7:30pm. 

THURSDAY June 6th - INTRODUCTION TO ITALIAN WINE & ANTIPASTI - Learn why Italy is one of the most fascinating and delicious wine regions in the world. The 20 regions of Italy grow over 350 indigenous grape varietals so it is easy to never drink the same wine twice. This class will cover the basics of the major wine producing areas and grape varietals paired with regional Italian cheeses & salumi meats. $59 per person. REGISTER

Coming soon - Wines of Tuscany - Taste through wines that have made Tuscany one of the most loved wine regions in Italy and the world. ​ ​ ​We ​will ​cover ​the ​basics of Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Super Tuscans, Morellino di Scansano and more ​paired ​with ​cheese and bread. $59 per person REGISTER


Cooking Classes & Wine Tastings - Terms & Conditions Due to small class size and popularity we do have certain terms and conditions that apply to our La Scuola Bottega classes.  All prices are per person. Full payment must be made upon booking.  All classes are non-refundable and non-transferable to another date.  If you are unable to attend you can send someone in your spot.  Cooking and Wine class gift certificates are issued by email only.
