La Bottega Nicastro offers dinners, cooking and wine tasting classes with various guest chefs and wine experts throughout the season. All classes are Italian food and wine focused unless otherwise noted. We also offer private customized cooking classes and wine tastings for corporate groups and special events, please contact us for further information at firstname.lastname@example.org
Classes & Dinners are held at our store in the Byward Market - 64 George Street.
Each class is roughly 18 people in size, with 4 seats at the bar and around 14 at a communal table. In the cooking classes there are at least 3 courses demonstrated and eaten - an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert. Two glasses of wine are included unless otherwise noted. All classes and dinner are demonstration. Classes begin at 6:00 pm unless otherwise stated.
FRIDAY September 22 - TUSCANY Seafood & Fish - In the interior, Tuscany is most famous for meat based recipes, but if you’re heading to the coast you’ll have the chance to savour some of the tastiest fish dishes you’ll find anywhere in Italy. This evening Chef Michael Cummings will share some of his favourite Tuscan fish and seafood recipes. $70 per person REGISTER
FRIDAY October 13 - ITALIAN COMFORT FOOD Classics - Chicken Parmigiana, Gnocchi, Meatballs, Tiramisu...we love old school Italian classics here. Chef Michael Cummings will be cooking up these classics with a Byward Market twist. $70 per person REGISTER
FRIDAY November 10 - RISOTTO 101 - For most people, when they think Italian, they think pasta. But what about pasta’s Northern Italian cousin? Chef Michael Cummings will demonstrate how versatile and pantry friendly, risotto is. It is the perfect pillow to any number of toppings and add-ins from roasted vegetables and cheeses to meats and seafood. $70 per person REGISTER
Wine Classes are led by a La Bottega Wine Expert - includes 6 wines with 6 food pairings. Each class is roughly 12 people in size unless otherwise indicated. All wine classes are from 3:00 to 4:30 pm - $59 per person
SUNDAY September 24 - INTRODUCTION to Italian WINE & CHEESE - Learn why Italy is one of the most fascinating and delicious wine regions in the world. The 20 regions of Italy grow over 350 indigenous grape varietals so it is easy to never drink the same wine twice. This class will cover the basics of the major wine producing areas and grape varietals paired with regional Italian cheeses. REGISTER
SUNDAY October 22 - WINES of TUSCANY - Taste through wines that have made Tuscany one of the most loved wine regions in Italy and the world. We will cover the basics of Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Super Tuscans, Morellino di Scansano and more paired with Italian cheese, cured meats, bread and Tuscan extra virgin olive oil. REGISTER
Coming soon - Wine & Food Pairing 101 - Do you know how to pick a wine that can enhance your meal, rather than detract from it? Drink and eat what you like is always a good rule, but if you like several types of wine, knowing which one to pick can highlight that meal that you adore, and vice versa. This class will highlight some the basic principles of successful food and wine pairing.
Cooking Classes & Wine Tastings - Terms & Conditions - Due to small class size and popularity we do have certain terms and conditions that apply to our La Scuola Bottega classes. All prices are per person. Full payment must be made upon booking. All classes are non-refundable and non-transferable to another date. If you are unable to attend you can send someone in your spot.
