La Bottega Nicastro offers dinners, cooking and wine tasting classes with various guest chefs and wine experts throughout the season. All classes are Italian food and wine focused unless otherwise noted. Classes & Dinners are held at our store in the Byward Market - 64 George Street.
Each class is roughly 18 people in size, with 4 seats at the bar and around 14 at a communal table. In the cooking classes there are at least 3 courses demonstrated and eaten - an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert. Two glasses of wine are included unless otherwise noted. Dinners are communal seating with premium wine pairings. All classes and dinner are demonstration. Classes and Dinners begin at 6:00 pm unless otherwise stated.
FRIDAY September 20 - ITALIAN COMFORT FOOD CLASSICS - Chicken Parmigiana, Gnocchi, Meatballs, Tiramisu...we love old school Italian classics here. Chef Michael Cummings will be cooking up these classics with a Byward Market twist. $70 per person REGISTER
FRIDAY October 4 - COOK TUSCANY - Famous for its local produce and meat, for its simplicity and seasonal foods Chef Michael Cummings will share some recipes from his favourite region in Italy - Tuscany. $70 per person REGISTER
THURSDAY November 7 - SIT DOWN with the SOPRANOS - The Sopranos - often hailed as one of the greatest television series of all time. In the book "The Sopranos: Born under a Bad Sign", author Franco Ricci examines the groundbreaking HBO series and its impact as a cultural phenomenon. Join us along with Professor Franco Ricci, for an evening of food, wine and discussion about all things Sopranos. Evening includes a four course family style American/Italian Sopranos themed dinner, two glasses of wine and a signed copy of the book. $100 per person REGISTER
Wine Classes are led by a La Bottega Wine Expert - includes 5 wines with 5 food pairings. Each class is roughly 12 people in size unless otherwise indicated. Classes run from 6:00-7:30pm.
THURSDAY September 12th - WINES OF SOUTHERN ITALY - Sicily, Puglia, Calabria, Campania - the land of still-active volcanoes, sun-drenched beaches, and 80 percent of the country’s olive trees. It’s also where you will find off-beat grape varieties few have ever heard of. Our sommelier will share some of his top picks from this gem of a region paired with meats, cheese and bread. $60 per person REGISTER
THURSDAY October 17th - WINES OF TUSCANY - Taste through wines that have made Tuscany one of the most loved wine regions in Italy and the world. We will cover the basics of Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Super Tuscans, and more paired with cheese, meats and bread. $60 per person REGISTER
Cooking Classes & Wine Tastings - Terms & Conditions - Due to small class size and popularity we do have certain terms and conditions that apply to our La Scuola Bottega classes. All prices are per person. Full payment must be made upon booking. All classes are non-refundable and non-transferable to another date. If you are unable to attend you can send someone in your spot. Cooking and Wine class gift certificates are issued by email only.
