La Bottega Nicastro offers dinners, cooking and wine tasting classes with various guest chefs and wine experts throughout the season. All classes are Italian food and wine focused unless otherwise noted. We also offer private customized cooking classes and wine tastings for corporate groups and special events, please contact us for further information at firstname.lastname@example.org
Classes & Dinners are held at our store in the Byward Market - 64 George Street.
COOKING CLASSES & DINNERS
Each class is roughly 18 people in size, with 4 seats at the bar and around 14 at a communal table. In the cooking classes there are at least 3 courses demonstrated and eaten - an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert. Two glasses of wine are included unless otherwise noted. Dinners are communal seating with premium wine pairings. All classes and dinner are demonstration. Classes and Dinners begin at 6:00 pm unless otherwise stated.
FRIDAY November 29 - RISOTTO 101 (sold out) - For most people, when they think Italian, they think pasta. But what about pasta’s Northern Italian cousin? Chef Michael Cummings will demonstrate how versatile and pantry friendly, risotto is. It is the perfect pillow to any number of toppings and add-ins from roasted vegetables and cheeses to meats and seafood. $70 per person REGISTER
THURSDAY December 5 - SIT DOWN with the SOPRANOS (sold out) - The Sopranos - often hailed as one of the greatest television series of all time. In the book "The Sopranos: Born under a Bad Sign", author Franco Ricci examines the groundbreaking HBO series and its impact as a cultural phenomenon. Join us along with Professor Franco Ricci, for an evening of food, wine and discussion about all things Sopranos. Evening includes a four course family style American/Italian Sopranos themed dinner, two glasses of wine and a signed copy of the book. $100 per person REGISTER
FRIDAY January 10 - ITALIAN COMFORT FOOD CLASSICS - Chicken Parmigiana, Gnocchi, Meatballs, Tiramisu...we love old school Italian classics here. Chef Michael Cummings will be cooking up these classics with a Byward Market twist. $75 per person REGISTER
FRIDAY January 24 - ITALIAN VEGETARIAN 101 - The average everyday Italian diet is very vegetarian-friendly, and the reason for this is the country’s cultural heritage. The variety of grains, legumes, olive oil, organic eggs, vegetable sauces, hearty soups, condiments, abundant dairy, and heaps of fresh produce grace Italian tables at every meal. Chef Michael Cummings will prepare some of his top vegetable based winter time dishes. $75 per person REGISTER
MONDAY January 27 - RIVIERA + APRÈS SKI in ITALY - We are pleased to welcome Chef Jordan Holley from RIVIERA Restaurant for an alpine inspired dinner as we travel from the Alps to the Dolomites. This cozy menu is what winter is made for, perfect after a long day on the slopes, snowshoeing or simply as a warm up from the frigid outdoor temperature. The evening will begin with an après-ski cocktail and dinner will be paired with regional Italian wines. $125 per person REGISTER

Wine Classes are led by a La Bottega Wine Expert - includes 5 wines with 5 food pairings. Each class is roughly 12 people in size unless otherwise indicated. Classes run from 6:00-7:30pm.
THURSDAY November 28 - WINES OF NORTHERN ITALY - Explore Northern Italian wines as we travel from the Veneto to Piemonte and explore Valpolicella, Ripasso, Nebbiolo, Soave, real "Pinot Grigio" & more. The wines of the North are world renowned for their elegance and finesse. All wines will be paired with regional antipasti. $60 per person REGISTER
THURSDAY January 9 - INTRODUCTION TO ITALIAN WINE & CHEESE - Learn why Italy is one of the most fascinating and delicious wine regions in the world. The 20 regions of Italy grow over 350 indigenous grape varietals so it is easy to never drink the same wine twice. This class will cover the basics of the major wine producing areas and grape varietals paired with regional Italian cheeses. $60 per person REGISTER
THURSDAY January 16 - SUPER TUSCANS: The Unofficial Star of Tuscany - What is a Super Tuscan? Where did the name come from? Do all Super Tuscans have Cabernet Sauvignon in them? We will share some of our top picks and answer these questions along with some Italian salumi and cheese. $85 per person. $85 per person REGISTER

Cooking Classes & Wine Tastings - Terms & Conditions - Due to small class size and popularity we do have certain terms and conditions that apply to our La Scuola Bottega classes. All prices are per person. Full payment must be made upon booking. All classes are non-refundable and non-transferable to another date. If you are unable to attend you can send someone in your spot. Cooking and Wine class gift certificates are issued by email only within 48 hours.
